"I don't claim to be a wise man, a poet, or a saint.
I'm just another man who's searching for a better way.
My heart beats loud as thunder for things that I believe.
Sometimes I run for cover.
Sometimes I want to scream."
- Jon Bon Jovi, Bang a Drum
Tonys' interest in training started with an ACL tear of his left knee as a sophomore at West Springfield High School in 1987. The time in the training room - the road to recovery - is where he learned there was something special about this field. He played football and wrestled in high school and he graduated with the superlative of Most Talented in his class. It was the injury, his experiences on those sports teams and his creative talents that motivated him to pursue a college education at Bridgewater State College (now University) with a focus on Athletic Training and Art. A year or 2 in and Tony realized that as cool as the Art classes were, it was very difficult to fulfill the time demands of the Art classes and the coverage hours for Athletic Training... so he dropped the Art major and focused on Sports Medicine.
Tony had an awesome experience at Bridgewater, made some great friends, his future wife and learned a ton about injuries, rehab and training. In addition to the training with the BSC athletes and sports teams as well as a few other local high schools and colleges, he worked with the New England Patriots during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. That was the Bill Parcells/Drew Bledsoe era and it was this experience working in that environment that Tony learned how to be a professional. And moreover he learned about people and life. From the arrogance and cockiness in rookies to the respect and leadership of the veterans and the personal challenges that all these athletes had trying to stay healthy and sustain their roster spots, Tony acquired a unique appreciation for the value of a great trainer. And so he aspired to be the best trainer he could from that point on.
Although the life of an NFL trainer can be extremely rewarding, it doesn't leave much time for anything else...like a social life and a family. So after 2 seasons with the Patriots, Tony returned to his hometown and worked as the Athletic Trainer at West Springfield High School at the same time as serving as Director of Fitness at Healthtrax Fitness and Wellness. Over the next few years, he worked as trainer with American International College, Work-Fit at Hallsmith-Sysco as an Industrial Athletic Trainer and a few other local high schools. In 1999, he relocated to Cape Cod to work as Trainer for a local Physical Therapy organization in charge of post-rehab fitness and athletic training at numerous Cape high schools.
In 2003, Tony went on his own and created Crescendo Sport and Fitness, Inc. He started Crescendo with an opportunity at the Club at New Seabury where he served as the Director of Fitness for more than14 years. Tony has also worked with many different youth and high school sports programs such as Barnstable Little League (as President, Board Member, and Coach) and the Cape Cod Baseball Club.
For 4 years leading up to the pandemic, Tony commuted to Brookline, MA 3 days a week to work with members of The Country Club, specializing in golf fitness. The Country Club is a unique and premiere spot with amazing history and consistent with the professionalism and quality that Tony strives to maintain. In 2020, along with the rest of the world, COVID redirected Tony's path and ended his work at The Country Club as well as his Crescendo Training Studio in Hyannis.
Currently, Tony has re-ignited his athletic training skills with a management position at an orthopedic clinic, Cape Cod Orthopedics in Hyannis where he specializes in bracing and fracture casting. And meanwhile, he regularly works to re-invent his passion for Crescendo and its' genuine approach.
It is the many clients Tony has worked with over the years that have taught him so much more than he has offered them. And for that reason, Crescendo will never be perfect and will always progress. Tony never claims to offer the best program, only the best he knows. With 30 years of successful training, he's confident in his services and the fact that at a minimum, he will lead you in the right direction.
